First Day of School & State Fair 2010

I can't believe how slow I am at getting these pictures up. Lucas' first day of school was back on August 30th! He's still at Marcy Open. They have integrated classrooms beginning in 1st grade, so there are also second graders in his class. His teacher is Ms. Pat, room 108. The first few days were hard for him to want to go to school, and then he had a few rough days of having to eat school lunch, but now he gets to take lunch from home on Mondays and he's almost excited to leave for school each morning so I think we're in the clear for a good school year. His favorite thing is of course gym. Today they ran the a half mile and Lucas was the fastest out of both classes! He was pretty excited about that. This Saturday, he'll be running a 1k race. He couldn't remember his time at school today, but I think it was about 3:37 (based on what another kid told me that was there). When we've been training for the 1k, he's been doing it in about 5 minutes, so we'll see how he does on Saturday! Anyway, I'm glad Lucas is liking school and it's nice to be in a routine with Matias and Nicolas at home.

dropping him off on the first day!

School usually starts after the State Fair is over, but this year, the Minneapolis School District started early, so we planned to go to the State Fair that Saturday. We planned to get up and go as early as possible, and I'm very glad we did. We got there by around 9am and left by about 1pm and we're glad we left when we did. The attendance for that day set another record - a grand total of 234,384. Craziness. We didn't do anything new this year but still had a lot of fun.

Choo Choo Bob's had an exhibit and store set up!

the boys loved it

We had to wake Nicolas up to leave so early, so he was really tired and fell asleep soon after we got to the State Fair

Our usual first stop, Little Farm Hands! This place gets incredibly crowded

they had these beautiful sunflowers near the exit - and what a gorgeous blue sky!

their reward after all their hard work on the farm!

they had the whole stroller parking system down to an exact science - we put our strollers in the back of this group and when we finished, it was in this front row waiting for us!

they got to pick one ride and Lucas wanted bumper boats again like last year

Nicolas watching his brothers have fun

Zeke and Matias on the Giant Slide

Lucas and I shared cotton candy

seeing some goats

Zeke got a deep fried pork chop on a stick

check out the crowds - it's a good thing we were ready to go home!

riding on the *empty* bus back to our park 'n ride

Lucas reading his "train magazine" that he got from the Choo Choo Bob's store

Matias and Nicolas had a fun day

It's sad to think we won't be going again next year, because *hopefully* by then we will be in a new place ready for Zeke to start a new job!
