Nicolas is a pro at pulling himself up on things and loves his activity table (Aug 13th)
My friend Leigh's parents live in Two Harbors (half an hour north of Duluth). Since her husband was going to be gone for a month for National Guard duty, she stayed with her parents while he was gone and invited us to come up to visit! We drove up on a Sunday (Aug 15th) after church and stayed Monday and Tuesday morning and then were back home by Tuesday afternoon. It was a beautiful few days - the weather was gorgeous, Leigh's parents were great hosts and we had fun hanging out with Leigh and her two girls.
a view of Superior Lake (Aug 16th)
walking down to see a beautiful view of the Split Rock lighthouse
the lighthouse
walking back up to the car
after Split Rock, we headed to Gooseberry Falls
after afternoon naps, we went to see the lighthouse in Two Harbors and then hung out by the lake
the water was frigid, but Lucas and Matias still loved splashing at the edge
what a face! :)
on Tuesday (Aug 17th), we spent the morning in Duluth; first we went on a drive across seven bridges - it was so beautiful
we stopped at one of the bridges to enjoy the view for a few moments outside of the car
the road then took us to this gorgeous view of Lake Superior and Duluth in the distsance
that's Duluth in the distance
then we headed to Enger Tower, for some more spectacular views of Duluth
the famous Aerial Lift Bridge

After Enger Tower, we headed to Canal Park to hang out, but on the way there I discovered something awful. Somehow I had forgotten my wallet back in Minneapolis, and Leigh's mom was kind of enough to lend me some cash for lunch and to get gas before heading home. Well, I think I must have lost it somehow at Enger Tower and didn't realize until we got to Canal Park. So I left the kids with Leigh and went back to Enger Tower to try and find it to no avail. I was so upset and frustrated with myself, we just left to come back home. It was a sad way to end the trip, but we're still glad we got to go!
