Utah: Uintah Days Celebration, Boondocks & more (June 2012)

the boys got to ride on the tractor train in the Uintah Days Parade; June 9th

Draven & Matias! Matias looks 'too cool' for the train or something ;-)

happy to be awake....

...and happy to be asleep!

Lucas wanted to climb the climbing wall

this is as high as he got - it was scarier than he thought it would be

These next pictures are some of my favorite from the whole summer. One of the events they had at "U Days" was a Chicken Chase. I'd never even heard of one before, but basically they put kids and chickens in a fenced off area and the kids have to try and catch a chicken! If they catch one, they got to pick a king-size candy bar. They divided the kids into different age groups.
this was as close as Nicolas got to a chicken - he wasn't so thrilled about catching a chicken

Matias and Draven were at least willing to run in the direction of the chickens

I think Matias was just happy to chase the chickens; he really didn't want to have to catch one

Lucas' age group lined up and ready to go!

I was so surprised at how determined Lucas was to actually catch a chicken! This is my boy who has never liked animals even from a distance, let alone actually touch one and pick it up! He got pretty close in this picture.

He had his eyes on that chicken!!

Can you see Lucas falling on the ground going for the chicken? He's wearing green Crocs. (left side of the pic)
back on his feet continuing the chase....

....and he got it!!! He had the biggest grin on his face and I couldn't stop laughing and smiling watching all my boys through the whole event. It was so funny watching all the kids.
what a look of triumph!

passing his chicken off to the farmer ready to collect his prize! He chose a Kit Kat.

love my Jo-Jo

going for a walk around Uintah - love the mountains; June 10th

The boys loved riding in the wagon and taking turns riding, running or pulling the wagon
(I miss our red wagon. We had one just like this but it was stolen in MN)

happy in the backpack

happy cousins by the train tracks

we went to Boondocks to celebrate Lucas' birthday a few days early; Draven, Kurt, Grandma, Lucas and Matias; June 11th

everybody loved the Go Karts!

Draven & Kurt

Matias & Grandma - love Mati's excited face

and finally - Lucas and Grandpa!

mini-Golfing; I didn't get any pictures, but the Water Boats were super fun (they're behind where Grandpa is standing)

happy to get down and crawl around

inside Boondocks at the play area

opening one present early before I left - a soccer mug!

Next stop: Munich to meet up with Zeke and celebrate our 10th Anniversary!
